Libby Liberatore, Long-Time Volunteer and Former V.P. of Nursing, Receives "St. Joseph the Worker" Award

Rosemarie "Libby" Liberatore was honored with the 2011 "St. Joseph the Worker" Award at the Candlelight Reception of Honor held by the St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation. The award recognizes those who have made extraordinary contributions to St. Joseph Medical Center through their faithful leadership and service, exemplifying the steady and quiet strength associated with St. Joseph, patron saint of all working people and of the poor. $2.1 Million Released for Critical Medical Center Projects

Each year the Foundation raises monies for restricted and unrestricted use from generous donors and grateful patients. On August 18, 2011, the Foundation Board of Directors unanimously approved the release of $2.1 million in unrestricted monies to fund the following medical center projects. [Read more+]

Employees "Tee Up" for St. Joseph

More than 75 employees from St. Joseph Medical Center participated in an employee-sponsored Golf Tournament on May 1, 2011, to raise funds for the Employee Assistance Fund. The fundraiser grossed over $7,000 and brought together staff from a variety of disciplines in the hospital including security, facilities, patience assistance, registration, and board members! Kudos to John Bruchalski, Patient Financial Eligibility Coordinator, Jed Castellucci, Interim Director Revenue Cycle, and Pam Wood, Financial Services Manager who spearheaded and organized the event. A Daughter-In-Law Remembers "Mom" By Helping Others

In the words of her son, Keith, Elinor Niemeyer "lived to make others happy" and was remarkably successful with this philosophy for all of her 83 years. Her indomitable spirit and light made the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in 2007 devastating for her close-knit family. They feel fortunate, however, that she was treated at The Cancer Institute at St. Joseph. Niemeyer gained an additional 14 months of quality of life and the chance to greet her first great grandson.
