Cancer Screenings
At St. Joseph Medical Center, free cancer screenings are provided for the community throughout the year. Early detection is key, and there are steps you can take to detect cancer early when it is most treatable.
St. Joseph offers screenings for many different types of cancers such as breast, prostate, and skin. For more information about upcoming screenings, please call 410-337-1479 or check the community calendar for upcoming screenings and events.
Nurse Navigators
Provided as a free service of St. Joseph's Cancer Institute, the Nurse Navigator program is designed to assist patients and their families to obtain the information, knowledge, support, and guidance they need to successfully manage cancer care.
The Nurse Navigator meets cancer patients and provides educational materials, individualized patient education, patient and family support, and referrals to appropriate community services. Working closely with the medical staff, the Nurse Navigator helps patients navigate the health care system across the continuum of care including end of treatment and survivorship services.
St. Joseph Medical Center recognizes that treating and living with cancer requires a team effort. Diagnostic services, surgery, medical oncology, pain management, home health, rehabilitation services, and a variety of other areas may be involved in a patient's treatment. The Nurse Navigator helps serve as a liaison between the patient and the St. Joseph care teams.
