The St. Joseph Medical Center full-time pediatric staff is board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics. Staff includes five pediatricians to cover the units, two neonatologists to care for sick neonates, one pediatrician to administer the Pediatric Outpatient Care facility, five neonatal nurse practitioners and a small part-time staff.

In addition to assisting attending pediatricians, the medical center pediatric physician staff is available for consultations in Labor and Delivery, Nursery, Emergency Department and the Pediatric Inpatient area.

The medical center pediatrician communicates with the private attending pediatrician regarding the admission, evaluation and care of the private patient and performs procedures as necessary. The medical center pediatrician also may assist the private physician with the disposition of their patients in the Emergency Department. Any patient less than three months of age with a medical illness must be evaluated by a pediatrician.
