Bone Density Screening

For adults who want to know how lifestyle affects bone density and those with certain risk factors such as family history, small body frame, inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption, and low calcium or vitamin D intake. Consists of a quick, painless ultrasound test of the heel bone (not diagnostic). For those who have not had a DEXA scan or ultrasound bone test in the past year. Appointment required.

Smoking Cessation Class

UM St. Joseph Medical Center, in collaboration with Baltimore County Health Department, offers a free 6-week smoking cessation program that uses a positive behavior approach to help participants develop their own plan on how to quit.

In 60 minute sessions, participants will learn about reducing stress, cravings and withdrawal symptoms, and how to control their weight while resisting the urge to smoke. Nicotine replacement therapy and Chantix are available for eligible cessation class participants.

Stroke Support Group

Our stroke support group provides a forum for learning, listening and socializing with others. Our free stroke support group encourages participants to share their experiences as well as offer comfort and empowerment to others. Also, a team of stroke professionals provide useful information about stroke prevention and management. This group will be focused on healthy living and supporting the patient after experiencing a stroke.
